With nothing but hope, he left that forsaken land,
Trails of tears marked his journey, no one to lend a hand.
Through neon lights and city streets he roamed,
But the demons of his past, they followed him, they owned.

He packed his dreams, left the pain behind,
Chasing hope, in the city he'd find.
But destiny, relentless and unkind,
His dreams shattered, forever confined..

He stepped off the bus into the city haze
